BEACHWEAR FOR DAYWEAR

I’m heading to sunny Barcelona next week, so my mind has been focused on wrapping up a few deadlines before I leave, and holiday outfits. There hasn’t been time for much in-between, but it’s been nice to be busy and focused on being productive. It doesn’t always happen when you work for yourself, although there always seems to be an endless pile of things to do. I’m heading to Barcelona for Primavera Sound festival, and staying a few days either side to explore the city…

GROWING PAINS

It seems like all the changes I’d been waiting for life to throw at me, happened in the last couple of years. I’d been waiting for something to change career wise – I felt like I was floundering without meaning, I wasn’t sure what my calling was, or what I had to offer the world. I worked so many dead end jobs that I hated, and I’d often be hit with this overwhelming sense that I was just wasting my time…

WHEN IN DOUBT, DOUBLE POLKA DOTS

I keep my love for polka dots no secret – I have a wardrobe full of them, and I never seem to get bored of dressing myself in spots. They seem to be having a real buzz at the moment, with no sign of disappearing anytime soon. I mean, when will polka dots ever not be a good ideaIf you don’t like polka dots, maybe don’t answer that last part. Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of polka dot clashing around recently, and it’s inspired me to start mixing pieces together, and making the trend work from my own wardrobe…

ALMOST NEVER SUMMER READY

I’ve realised that anything made from light and flowy material, is where my safe spot tends to lie during the summer months. If I feel too restricted by an outfit, then I sure as hell ain’t having much fun in it. Dressing for the warmer weather should all be about ease, and I’m all for a midi slip dress that conceals my usually bruised legs – maybe even a patch of hair that my razor has missed. I never truly feel that I’m anywhere close to being summer ready, in fact, I’m not entirely sure what ‘summer ready‘ even means…

EMBRACING YELLOW

Yellow seems to be having a real moment, and I’m all for it. The longer these colour trends seem to hang around, the more they encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. I picked up this yellow vintage blouse last year, and almost threw it away in the midst of a big spring clear out. That’s the thing with colourful pieces – I always manage to convince myself that they don’t have the same longevity as the monochrome and neutral ones hanging alongside them…

LESSONS IN SELF CARE

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, so I wanted to share something uplifting, whilst also being honest about a topic close to my heart. Those of you who have read this blog from the beginning will know that it’s a place I’m always honest about my struggles – I don’t see the point in cherry picking the best moments of my life, because that wouldn’t be a true portrayal of my reality. It also wouldn’t be relatable, and it wouldn’t be the type of space that I’d personally want to engage with. I appreciate it when others are open about their experiences, and I’ve always vowed to do the same…

A GREEN BLAZER

The arrival of summer always makes me want to cut my hair off – anyone out there with thick, generally unruly hair will feel my pain. Wearing it down just isn’t an option when it reaches a mere twenty degrees or more. Think Monica abroad. It’s both a blessing and a curse, and I guess you always want what you don’t have. Anyway, I used to have a super short bob when I was at university, and I’ve been toying around with the idea of cutting it back in. I’ve got the hair itch – not the bad kind. Just the kind that’s niggling for a transformation. I think it was Coco Chanel who said ‘A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life’…

PRINCESS DIANA | POLKA DOTS

Princess Diana is way up there with my style icons for so many reasons – one of them being that she donned some pretty impressive polka dots ensembles. I always think of her whenever I wear an Eighties inspired blouse or blazer, and especially when I wear monochrome polka dots with high waist denim. I was trying to pin point what it was that I admired so much about her the other evening – I came to the conclusion that it has something to do with her ability to switch between Princess Diana and the off-duty Diana that lived in denim and wellington boots…

AU REVOIR L’OBSURITÉ

Freelancing can have a huge impact on mental health and wellbeing – it’s a topic I’ve seen cropping up a lot lately, and one that I’ve been eager to discuss. The rise of social media has meant that more and more people are able to build their own empires, set up that business they always dreamed about, and start being their own boss. I’ve now been working for myself just long enough to have had a true taste of what it all entails. I wanted to write this post because working in fashion/social media is often glamorised by the online world, and not always a true depiction of what goes on behind the edited Instagram photos and the shiny new spring/summer look book…

BORDEAUX TO BIARRTZ | FRANCE ON FILM

This week, I was lucky enough to discover the south of France for a couple of days with Jimmy FairlyBordeaux and Biarritz to be exact – I’ve mentioned that I spent quite a lot of time holidaying in France as a kid, so it always feels like a second home to me whenever I get the chance to go back. I’d actually never been to either places, so I was intrigued to discover what they had to offer, and whether they would become places I’d be permanently pining to travel back to…
