The older I get, the more I’m drawn to neutral colours – they seem to make me feel peaceful whenever I open my wardrobe…

I’ve never really been a huge fan of bright colours – I much prefer muted tones that feel gentle against the skin and don’t take too much away from the cut of the clothing. I really feel as though I’ve found a rhythm that works for me when it comes to making the most out of the pieces I invest in – neutral shades will always work will together, but they also work really well with the patterned pieces in my wardrobe too! That being said, I’ve found myself drifting towards really simple outfits lately. Maybe it’s a combination of the muggy weather and an extremely busy month – easy outfits have been welcomed with open arms. Anyway, I thought I’d share a current feel-good uniform that I’ve been relying on…

A feel-good uniform is a term I use for an outfit that I can throw on whilst rushing out the door and it never fails to make me feel my best. A look that I can rely on time and time again…

The foundation of this look is always a pair of tailored trousers. These are a navy pair by And Other Stories and I really can’t fault them. I love that they are fitted at the waist but looser on the legs – there’s something really sexy about a pair of trousers that nips in the waist but leaves everything else to the imagination…

Trousers are always a great option for me because they go so well with blouses (something I happen to own a lot of). I’m a blouse addict through and through – it’s normally the piece of my outfit that I like to express my personality through. Whether it’s classic stripes, polka dots or vintage satin – I like to tuck them in or tie them up for a slightly more laid back summer feel…

And for the accessories? My love affair with strappy sandals is far from over – I just wish I didn’t find the majority of them so uncomfortable. Fear not, these black suede Sandro delights are definitely the most comfortable evening shoe that I’ve come across in a long while. I love how simple they are and that they add a little touch of femininity to quite a traditionally masculine pair of trousers…

The bag is from a new brand on my radar thanks to Instagram: Vacare Studio. It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for anything brown croc at this point, so I was overjoyed when they offered to send me this beauty. It’s such a unique shape – practical enough to fit all the essentials inside too! When I’m wearing an outfit as simple as this one, I love to add an interesting bag that makes me feel as though I’m carrying a little piece of art around with me…

And to finish the look? Chunky gold jewellery in abundance is always the last thing I put on. I feel my most powerful when I’m wearing statement accessories, a vintage blouse, and some tailored trousers. It’s a combination that helps me feel like I can take on the world – especially on those days when I’d rather be hiding under the duvet…
