I love a basket bag as much as the next Jane Birkin fanatic, but it has to be said that I just don’t feel cool enough to rock a traditional wicker basket in the depths of autumn/winter. That’s not to say that I won’t try my hardest to, but I’m always quite conscious of it, and feel that it often has summer memories attached. I was recently on the hunt for something that still had that Birkin edge to it, but felt more at home paired against my wool coats and over-sized jumpers…
Instagram is great at introducing me to new brands – I don’t think I’d have some of my most loved items had it not been for the explore page constantly encouraging me to branch out. I discovered Wicker Wings a few months back and fell in love with their unique designs – I had never seen wicker bags combined with leather detailing before, and each bag is like an art piece in it’s very own right. I had seen a handful of other bloggers that I girl crush over style up the red leather design, and was pretty much set on investing in the same one. Something about that bright pop of red against polka dots and cat eye sunglasses just had me dreaming of all the other dreamy combinations I could pair it with! I wanted a bag that felt a bit special – something that would inject a bit of personality into my everyday looks, but also be suitable as a little evening bag too.
After a few weeks of returning back to the website and pining over their various designs – I finally settled on the Black Tall Tīxíng bag in a classic black colourway. Black wicker, black leather, and silver hardware to match up with the silver branding on the front of the bag. I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase – it literally matches with everything, even a trusty pair of high waist jeans and a chunky cardigan on days when I just want to be comfortable. The inside is beautiful but small (which doesn’t bother me), but definitely something to bare in mind if you like to carry the kitchen sink with you. It has a magnetic fastening and enough room for my phone, purse, and a few make up essentials like a lip balm and some concealer. I even managed to squeeze my passport and sunglasses in there on a recent trip to Paris…

Interesting handbag! I didn’t expect that a wicker one would match to the autumn outfit as well as it does. 🙂
Such a great sweater 🙂
Love this sweater, and even more your hair down!
Thank you! xx
