Hope you’re all well and having a wonderful week so far! It’s that time of year when everything seems full speed ahead until the Christmas break – it’s easy to get swept up in last minute shopping and loose ends, then before you know it the festive period has passed you by. I’m trying my best to be organised this year, i the hope that I can enjoy the month of December a little more than I did last year…

This time last year I was having an operation, and generally just felt a bit down in the dumps – Christmas crept up on me and I didn’t feel much like celebrating. In fact, I was just down right exhausted, and ready to crawl into bed and hibernate for a week. This year, I’m trying to get ahead on any festive themed content – there’s a few party-wear posts in the pipeline, as well as a little gift guide and a hair accessory post for you all to (hopefully) enjoy. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot in some amazing locations, and I’m really please with how everything has turned out so far…

Asides from shoot and planning for the blog, I’m slowly learning to take time out for myself whilst not feeling too guilty about it! Sometimes it’s just the little moments of relaxation that do the most good for the soul – taking long baths, watching films, reading a chapter of my book. It’s so important to be in the moment as often as we can, and to not take deadlines and work stuff too seriously. After all, these aren’t the moments that we will cherish when we look back at everything…

With this in mind, I’ve started planning a few things for the New Year – I always find that this keeps me focused come the inevitable January blues.  I’ve booked a little work trip to Paris with my friend Catherine (also photographer) for the end of Jan, and It’s almost become a little New Year’s ritual of sorts. There’s never anything I want to do less than to start shooting again in Manchester around that time of year, so a change of scenery always helps me slip back into the swing of things. What better place than Paris too?

Sam and I also grabbed tickets for The Book Of Mormon which is coming to Manchester next year! Booking more gigs/theatre shows/experiences is generally something I want to do much more of, and it’s a great way to make the gloomy months more exciting. I also booked him tickets to something for Christmas (which I won’t reveal now), but I’m so so excited for it. There’s always so much going on if you do your research, and it doesn’t always have to cost the earth either…

Whilst we are on the subject of tickets – we are also heading to Glastonbury again next year which I’m very keen for. We camped last ear, but I’d really love to stay in a different kind of accommodation this year – would love to know if you’ve stayed in any of the yurts/pre erected tents that they have to offer? I’m very on board with having to carry as little as possible next year – the walk to set up camp almost killed me off…

So all in all, it’s very much a time of preparations all round – ensuring this blog space is feeling festive in time for next month, and chipping away at the 2019 (eek) calendar. Keep your eyes pealed for lots of newness over the next few weeks, along with a brand new blog design that should be finalised very soon…
