Alice Catherine Alice Catherine

I wanted to share these film snaps taken in Catherine’s studio a couple of week back! The bad weather has meant a lot more studio days – days that I actually really enjoy! Shooting in a busy city centre isn’t an appealing concept for someone who hates being in the spotlight, so I always cherish shooting someplace indoors that feels more intimate and chilled…

I get really into my layering at this time of year, and I’ve noticed a huge trend for really exaggerated ‘Grandad chic’ sort of looks. I have to say, it’s totally up my street, so bring on the sports jumpers, slacks, and chunky loafers. I love taking a certain aesthetic and playing around with it on a plain studio backdrop. I always feel as though my outfits are more considered when I shoot this way, which can end up feeling like a slightly elevated or editorial side of the way I like to dress…

I’ve had this little knitted tank top for ages and I think it’s such a great nod to the whole ‘Grandad chic’ look without investing too much into it. There’s so many vintage ones to be found on the likes of Etsy etc, and you can style them in so many different ways. I think a blouse is a nice way to make a blouse or dress look more interesting – I love the way this navy one looks against the brown polka dots…

I’ve also been loving this brown vintage blazer! It’s such a great length to wear of an oversized shirt for the daytime, but I’ve equally been loving it as a ‘night out’ piece. There’s something about it that feels very ‘British history teacher’. Whenever I put it on, I feel as though I should be strolling around the grounds of Cambridge with some oversized spectacles and a pile of annotated books…
