Alice Catherine Alice Catherine

I’ve been a bit slow on the blog front this week, but I promise there’s lots of stuff coming your way over the next few days. The weather has been so up and down here in Manchester which obviously makes creating content a little trickier! However, me and Catherine struck lucky with a morning of sunshine yesterday, and I’m so happy with the shots we managed to get…

I like it best when I get a set of images that feel like they have a bit of a story behind them – even when the reality is just me prancing around the streets of Manchester like a bit of an idiot. It always makes the writing part a lot more fun if I can envision some sort of narrative when I’m flicking back through a shoot….

Anyway, enough waffling – I have lots of new stuff to report in this blog post! I should probably start with my hair incase any of you happened to notice it looks a bit different. It’s not exactly a thrilling announcement, but I bought my first ever styling wand this week, and have been attempting to create a sort of ‘laid back vintage waves’ kind of thing. Not sure if it’s working just yet or whether I just resemble a small Pomeranian. It’s safe to say I have A LOT of hair on my head and volume is something I will probably never struggle with. That being said, it’s been nice to switch things up a bit from my natural curls, and I really love the glam Eighties Mom/Pomeranian vibe that it’s bringing to these snaps…

It might seem strange, but I’ve always really loved ‘awkward haircuts’ that could be considered borderline just plain bad. I’ve never felt more like myself since chopping my hair off again, and it often feels like my biggest accessory! Having such a distinct bob shape makes it so much more fun to play around with different necklines and accessories. I enjoy wearing it in it’s natural state, but this look is just a bit sleeker for certain situations. It also doesn’t take up much time at all so maybe I’ll try and do a tutorial when I become less of a curling wand novice…

Next up on my list of newness – I wanted to share one of the newer brands on my radar over the last couple of months, Daily Sleeper. A brand after my own heart when it comes to their loose fitting but flattering creations. You may have seen their ‘Atlanta dress‘ worn and loved by many over on Instagram this summer – I was pining after it for ages before settling on this beautiful moss green ‘Brigitte dress‘ instead. Personally, I find this style way more wearable for the lifestyle I lead. I LOVE how it looks with my And Other Stories leather jacket thrown on over the top to toughen it up. I feel like this is a look I could wear for a night out or even a summer wedding…

I love this shade of green paired with tortoiseshell accessories too. There’s just something very satisfying about this outfit and I’m already excited to wear it again! I picked up these Gucci sunglasses on a impromptu shopping trip with my mum last weekend and I couldn’t be more smitten. I don’t own too many pairs of sunglasses because there’s only a couple of shapes that actually suit me – a classic cat eye like this being one of them. I’d been looking for a pair like this for ages and just couldn’t find the right style, then I stumbled across these and I just had to take them home with me. I love how cinematic they look in photographs too. If sunglasses don’t make you feel like you’re an old Hollywood movie star or the member of a really cool band, then what’s the point?…

The tortoiseshell shoes are from Zara – somewhere I barely shop anymore, but I have to say that these were worth the guilty impulse buy. I don’t own many sandals with a small heel, and I really wanted a pair that would match with everything whilst also giving certain looks a little bit of height. As a girl who hates wearing heels, these are surprisingly comfortable! I went with my usual size six and I’ve lasted the best part of a day in them so far – I can’t wait to style them with trousers and midi skirts, they literally match with most outfits in my wardrobe…

Last but not least when it comes to the newness report that is this blog post – this beautiful Ellme bag. I’m a huge fan of their pieces and I’d been itching for something a bit different. I love how vintage inspired this shape is and the contrasting handle gives it a really modern touch. I’m pretty happy with how well it matches with the sunglasses and sandals too – a summer trio that I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot from here on out…
