I recently shot these images as part of a paid partnership with Farfetch over on Instagram, so I thought I’d also share them on here too with links to all of the pieces! They are all items I have on repeat at that moment so I figured it might be nice to break down the looks in a little more detail for you…

If I’m being honest with you, I wasn’t sure if I was a black leather blazer kinda gal until I stumbled across this one by The Frankie Shop – black leather pieces in general can be quite intimidating, and whilst it’s a strong look nonetheless, I never want to appear like I’m off to a fancy dress party/dressed as one of the Grease cast members…

I never like to feel like my clothes are wearing me rather than the other way around! I think the key for me when styling black leather is to mix up the tough black material with softer pieces like loose fitting trousers, a crochet style top, and some relaxed looking sandals. It just helps to make the outfit look a bit more ‘thrown together’ rather than appearing overly considered. I also LOVE how a basket bag looks in contrast to a leather jacket – it’s such a juxtaposition and definitely the kind of thing that makes getting dressed/playing around with personal style exciting to me. The collision of different eras/looks/personalities etc and then channelling those different energies into one singular look has the power to create something really fresh and exciting. It’s something I’m endlessly chasing!

What I love about this blazer is that I can pretty much throw it over any simple outfit and it immediately elevates it – it’s such a luxurious looking piece and creates a completely different look in comparison to all the none leather blazers I have in my collection. I really enjoy how it looks paired with a long slip dress now that the weather is finally warming up – paired with the socks & loafers it has a cute preppy feel to it that again feels playful in comparison to the harsh black leather.

Safe to say it’s a piece that’s opening up a whole new array of looks from within my own wardrobe which is always the sign of a solid investment! It’s also the ultimate ‘daytime to dressy in five seconds flat’ jacket for lazy girls like me who don’t really own separate pieces kept aside exclusively for fancier occasions. I like to wear all of my clothes (all of the time) so pieces like this are so handy when I’ve got something like ‘after work drinks’ in the diary but can’t be bothered to change out of my daytime look…
