HOPES AND DREAMS

I hope you all had the best Christmas, and a well deserved break! I thought I’d ease myself back into blogging in the form of a mini ramble – I did manage to switch off over the festive period, and didn’t find myself reaching for my laptop each morning as usual. This has allowed me the much needed refresh that I was craving! However, It’s also pretty difficult to turn off completely when you not only work for yourself, but happen to enjoy the work as a hobby regardless. Blogging is an outlet that allows me to just switch off from whatever is happening around me, and just write freely whenever the feeling strikes…

THE MAGIC OF NYE

I have always had a slightly bittersweet relationship with New Years Eve – a lot of pressure seems to ride on being in the right dress, at the right party, stood in the right place, with the right person, and the right drink in hand as soon as the clock strikes midnight. I’ve had some wonderful times (and some I’d rather forget) but no matter how the night ends, it always seems to start off the same sense of hope and optimism for the year ahead…

BROWN TONES

I don’t think I’ve ever worn an outfit that was plucked entirely from the same colour palette – it sounds like a recipe for disaster, but I happen to really like how this one turned out. I seem to have accumulated quite a few brown pieces over the past couple of months, so I thought it might be fun to throw a few of them together, and step outside of my colour related comfort zone…

THE A-LINE SKIRT | RECONNECTING

A couple of years ago, you’d struggle to find me wearing anything else other than a classic A-line skirt – the Sixties inspired favourite was a complete staple in my wardrobe, and I was pretty content sporting one everyday of the week. In fact, I had a top draw dedicated to different A-line skirts alone – checked print, polka dot, and suede galore. I was a woman obsessed with collecting skirts, and I would bravely wear them all the way through winter with tights, a jumper, and a chunky pair of ankle boots…

CHRISTMAS PLAYLIST

Hello you wonderful lot, I hope you’re all well and truly feeling festive/getting ready to take a well deserved Christmas break! I have had a pretty none stop week, but I’m finally starting to feel like I’m on top of everything! This week I got invited to a Farfetch event in London which was a nice little day break from life in Manchester – I also got to travel with Sophia Rosemary which is always a pleasure as we get to catch up and have a good old natter. This usually involves giving each other little pep talks, and discussing the bags that we have been dreaming about…

PARTY-WEAR MENU | THE LBD

This week I shot a handful of party-wear looks in the very beautiful Principal hotel – I realise many of you may already have your Christmas attire all planned out, but I wanted to share what I’ll be reaching for nonetheless. I was recently out of the game for around a week, which has left me a little bit behind, but all of these outfits would work perfectly for New Years Eve and beyond! I’m never one to invest in something that I can only wear at a certain time of year anyway, I like pieces that I carry through until summer, and don’t make me look too much like Christmas cliche…

PARTY-WEAR MENU | RED SATIN BLOUSE

I’ve been working on a little party-wear series of posts this week for you – so, thought I’d kick start things with this amazing satin red blouse by And Other Stories. What could be more festive than a red wrap style blouse? It’s guaranteed to make you look like a well-wrapped gift, and blend in with most of the Christmas decorations hanging on the tree too! My initial thought when picking up this blouse, was obviously to pair it with denim jeans – there’s something about vivid red and denim that just works perfectly…

THE CHECKED PINAFORE | TOPSHOP

A checked pinafore is one of those pieces that I fall in and out of love with every year – it’s a piece that I’ve owned in various different designs since I was probably around two years old, and one that I still feel at home in whenever I find one that’s right. I’ve not tried to cover up the fact that I can be incredibly lazy with my outfits – I love nothing more than just throwing on some jeans and a jumper at this time of year, comfort and ease are endlessly attractive when it comes to getting dressed in December! However, I’ve recently been trying to prise myself away from the denim a little more, and get back into wearing pieces with an A-line silhouette…

LITTLE INDULGENCES | THE FESTIVE EDIT

I’m normally one of the last people to catch the festive mood – I don’t like having Christmas last a whole two months like it seems to these days, and I’m definitely not one to watch Christmas films before December! In fact, I have a little ritual with myself that I can only watch certain festive films the week before Christmas – the ones that happen to be dear to my heart such as Love Actually and Miracle on 34th Street. I don’t know what it is about that film, but it just gets me every god damn time…

FRESH AIR & OVERSIZED EVERYTHING

I recently spent the day shooting some wintery content in Manchester’s Heaton park – it’s one of my favourite places to visit because it reminds of the Lake District, a place I spent a lot of time as a kid. My Gran lived there, and it offered a nice little escape whenever we would get the chance to go and stay – as much as I love city life, there’s nothing quite like being in the beautiful countryside…
