THE VINTAGE DRESS | TOP TIPS

I am that annoying person that gets asked where my dress is from by someone with appreciative eyes – only to let them down with the dreaded ‘it’s vintage’. Suddenly you see their heart sink, and you feel the vintage induced guilt all over again. What makes it worse is that being a blogger is now my full time occupation, but yet, I just won’t quit my love for vintage. With this in mind, I thought I’d give you a run down of my ‘vintage dress code’, which is a slightly fancier way of saying I’m gonna let you in on a few top tips when it comes it making the best of that vintage dress you found. The one stuffed at the back of your wardrobe because you ‘just liked the print’, but it didn’t quite fit right…

HEADSPACE

I recently spent a full week in beautiful Wales, waking up to the sound of nature, fresh air, and nothing but greenery for as far as the eyes could see. No sirens, busy roads, or northern chanting in sight. I have to say, I didn’t realise how much I needed the break (both mentally and physically) until I actually unpacked, sat down on my new bed, and breathed a huge sigh of relief…

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS | FREE PEOPLE

A LBD is essential in every wardrobe, that’s just a given! No matter what shape, size, or age, a little black dress will always be your fail safe. It’s the one item I find myself rummaging for when it comes to a last minute night out or that unexpected dress code. Black gets a bit of a tough rep when it comes to summer dressing – white becomes everyone’s favourite go-to, and the black items in our wardrobes tend to get cast aside for another season…

HUNTER WELLIES | A BRITISH SUMMER LOOKBOOK

I love a good pair of wellies come festival season. I’m a huge fan of how they look with a trusty vintage dress, and nothing could be more British when teamed with a waterproof parka. They have become the backbone of festival style, and luckily they look great with an array of different outfits/basically whatever the hell you feel like wearing whilst you’re having fun in the fields. The right pair means we can stomp through the rain and mud until our hearts content, styling it out the way we do best, with a good sense of humour (and a thick pair of socks)…

THE NEW DINNER JACKET

I recently spied this little jacket on the Sezane website and instantly began imagining it with a pair of vintage blue jeans. I never like to look ‘too sophisticated’ or ‘dressed up’, so I knew this would be a game changer with denim and a pair of ankle strap shoes…

STYLING DENIM SHORTS | PART TWO

Another recent hot sunny day meant yet another excuse to whip out the denim shorts and pretend I was abroad. I remember how warm it was whilst shooting these images – the kind of heat that makes me resent living in a busy city centre, and makes me pine for seaside adventures, the kind of air you want to breathe in and it feels like it’s doing your soul some kind of good…

STYLING DENIM SHORTS | PART ONE

Ahh the humble denim short – it’s changed quite a lot over the years hasn’t it? Truth be told it never really needed to, and a good old vintage pair of 501’s has my heart forever. I’m a fan of a frayed edge, and nothing too butt cheeky if you get my drift – I could go on to turn this into a joke but I’ll spare you my bad humour…

SUMMER UNIFORM

I think most people have a go-to outfit that they feel most comfortable in when the weather heats up – mine tends to be a blouse and some sort of denim piece. The typical British Summer can be famously unpredictable – meaning that little tea dress you put on in the glaring sun at 10am, can leave you feeling like a total idiot by a 3pm thunderstorm. It’s this sort of weather that has us Brits feeling like we need to be prepared for whatever the day ahead brings, or, to just stop caring and not let the climate dictate our wardrobes…

SUMMER LAYERS

The words ‘Summer’ and ‘layers’ don’t really sound right together in the same breath – the idea of layers of clothing under the hot sun is enough to bring me out in a sweat already. Granted, this outfit did bring me out in a sweat, sorry if that’s TMI but just trying to keep it real over here. It was a 27 degree day, and I think I’d have been too hot no matter what the ensemble…

GIRLS SUPPORT GIRLS | #1

I realised recently that I follow so many wonderful ladies, and get inspired by them daily – it only seems fair to share the love and give you a little run down of my faves. I’m going to turn this into a regular affair, in which I discuss all different kinds of women I’m currently inspired by and why – this could be related to music, fashion, Instagram, mental illness – absolutely anything. I hope you like the idea, as I feel that it’s something I’m going to really enjoy working on! Without further adieu, I thought I’d kick start things with a few of my favourite bloggers babes…
