Alice Catherine Alice Catherine

I shot these images on film with Catherine a couple of weeks ago and I love how they turned out! The weather had been particularly bad that week, and I was feeling particularly uninspired as a result. I wanted to shoot some good old ‘festive looks’ but just didn’t feel like putting on a dress or anything fancy, so I just decided to shove on a compilation of everything in my current wardrobe that makes me feel my best…

I think there’s a lot of pressure throughout December to be dolled up and present at every social affair, but the reality is that this time of year can also feel like a bit of a slog. Especially with the rise of social media – it’s often a sensory overload, and sometimes we just need to take a step away and take solace in the simple things…

For me, that’s just letting go of the pressure to incorporate impressive locations and newly styled outfits into my content, and just shooting pieces in my kitchen that feel cosy and classic.

I love seeing other content creators shoot at home – I always think it feels a bit more personal and laid back in a sea of often very polished imagery. Plus, it’s amazing what a little film camera with flash can create in a tiny kitchen space. It’s even *almost* managed to make our bog standard fridge freezer look chic…

Whenever I’m feeling a bit rubbish about myself, an oversized blazer always seems to be the first thing I reach for. It’s become such a comfort pieces for me, and one that I’ve learnt to style in lots of different ways over the years…

As it’s December and I’m feeling more sluggish and tired than usual, I’ve been opting for heels to elongate my evening looks. I actually only own a couple of pairs of heels as I just don’t find most of them to be comfortable, nor do I find myself in many situations where they feel appropriate. I picked up this black Prada pair as a birthday treat to myself earlier in the year, and they are just the ultimate pair of black platform heels! They pretty much go with everything in my wardrobe, and they also look great with tights and sheer socks (the list goes on). I’d wanted a pair like this for years, and I’m so glad that I finally just took the plunge – they are such a sturdy pair of heels and I can last in them all night long. I keep stalking the other versions online but one black pair is more than this heel avoiding person needs in their collection. There’s an amazing brown croc style that I’ll link below though incase you’re interested…

I also recently picked up this vintage Dior blazer that happens to fit like a dream – the Rokit Vintage team got in touch and kindly offered me a voucher, so I spent a good half an hour or so treasure hunting on their website. I didn’t realise that they stocked lots of designer brands, and they have so many lovely pieces! It’s definitely worth having a look if you’re after something special for the vintage lover in your life. They also have a great selection of books and accessories…

As much as I do love to take that extra time to get ‘dolled up’ and throw on something fancy every now and then, it’s outfits like this that always feel the most sustainable to me. It’s a look that I never get bored of recreating, and one that’s comfortable and fun no matter what the night ahead has in store…
