Alice Catherine Alice Catherine

Happy new year! You may have noticed things are looking a little different around these parts. I’ll be real with you, the new layout was meant to be up before the Christmas break, but life/work just got a big hectic, and sometimes things don’t quite go according to plan. Slight delay aside – I’m so so happy with how it all looks! I’ve often been asked questions about the design of my blog, and in all honesty, I pretty much just chose a minimal template from the beginning and tweaked it a bit as I went along. It never really felt personal to me, so it feels very special to finally have my own vision of my blog brought to life…

It sort of feels like my blog is growing up slightly! It’s definitely somewhere I want to focus more of my time this year, and I really hope that you guys will enjoy spending time here too. I want to create more travel content – I want to write about more topics that challenge me, and I want to share my hopes and fears along the way…

You may have noticed that I’ve also added a ‘moodboard’ tab to the homepage menu. This is currently a direct link to my Tumblr so that you guys can see where I source a lot of my inspiration from. I’m constantly reposting stuff on there, and it’s something I always refer too when I’m feeling a bit stuck. I’m also working on making this section an integrated part of the website, so hopefully that will be up and running soon! I really wanted a strong ‘mood board’ element to the new blog design, but the coding part always proves tricker than the bright idea part. Thank heavens for Sam because he has helped me create the whole thing from scratch which has been a dream – its much easier to explain my ideas to someone I see everyday and tweak things as we go along…

In terms of content, I wanted the new website to have much more of a focus on my actual hard work! The photos, the writing, the time it takes to make everything look aesthetically pleasing…

Blog posts are now bigger – hopefully most of you prefer this and it makes them easier to digest. There’s also a ‘blog’ tab on the homepage that now takes you to a grid featuring all of my recent posts. This way you can scroll through larger amounts of content at once and find something that takes your fancy. I much prefer this way of viewing ‘recent posts’ and it’s a great way to catch anything you might have missed.

Last but not least, there’s a subscribe feature (don’t get too excited). This means you can enter your email and I’ll update you weekly when new posts go up/I have any exciting life announcements. There won’t be any spam or anything annoying (I hope) – it’s just a nice way of us keeping in touch in such over saturated times.

Updates aside, the whole place just feels a lot sleeker, a little bit fancier, and a lot more me. I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below, and I’ll see you real soon with a new post…

I just love this new version so much! The quality of the photo is just amazing, really! Everything is easier to access and I love that! I don’t like to spend to much time looking for one particular thing on a blog, like catching up, but this way of one general view of all the blog post is great.
Looking forward to see new post on here, as always.
    xx
