My main two weapons of choice when it comes to last minute festive attire? A little printed dress of some kind, and always, always, an oversized blazer thrown over the top…
I’m wearing it here with tights and loafers for a super smart but laid back look – the kind you could wear to the office and then throw on a pair of heels/boots and a red lip if you wanted to! I generally try not to shop for clothing with the ‘festive season’ in mind because I prefer to have a wardrobe of pieces that work all year round. A little shirt dress like this one is perfect because I can also wear it unbuttoned slightly with bare legs and sandals when the warm weather comes around again…
I also think a pair of smart loafers look really cool instead of a fancy shoe or heel option. There’s just something really understated about a little dress teamed with some traditionally masculine style footwear. In a sea of sequins, tassels and velvet galore – it’s nice to stick to simple basics that I won’t grow tired of beyond the party season.
