I’m really into simple Nineties/early noughties inspired outfit combinations at the moment! I’ve found myself gravitating towards those nostalgic basics from my childhood/teenage years and it’s been a nice change from just wanting to throw on an oversized outfit each day. The drop in temperature can sometimes just leave me wanting to throw on whatever is warm and easy, but if I wait long enough, the inspiration to mix things up always comes back around…

I’ve been watching Gilmore Girls from the beginning again and I always find it funny how much a TV show or film can seep it’s way into your wardrobe…

Gilmore Girls is one of those shows where I can just stick an episode on in the background and it instantly makes the mood in my living room feel cosy and warm. I always love to rewatch shows/movies that I was obsessed with years ago because I appreciate different things each time. When you know the narrative inside out, you can really sit back and enjoy the wardrobe choices in all their glory…

There’s truly some amazing outfits worn by Lorelai Gilmore that I never picked up on before. For instance, there’s a scene in the first series where she wears a brown leather jacket a bit like the one I’m wearing here – there’s just something about brown leather that screams autumn to me.

I just generally love how much clothing is talked about throughout the show too. It reminds me of conversations I’d have growing up with my mum, sister, and friends. The sheer agony of having to carefully select an outfit for a first date, or to that school party you’d been invited to last minute…

I don’t think that teenage habit of ‘throwing everything out of my wardrobe and onto my bed’ before finally deciding on the outfit I always wear, has ever quite left me…

I still turn my bedroom upside down whenever I have last minute plans, and I kind of like the drama around getting getting ready and how it has the power to make you feel. It’s silly and it’s stressful at times, but god is it exciting when it all comes together…

Ha! That’s funny, I was thinking that coat looked very Lorelai Gilmore before I even got to the part where you mentioned her. I’m also currently in a cozy little Gilmore Girls space at the moment…

Gilmore Girls is my all time favorite show, and I always find myself returning to it in the autumn. It feels very comforting to me – I know the characters and their stories inside and out and I have always felt very close to them in a way. I also agree that there is some amazing sartorial inspiration throughout each series! I definitely relate to wearing nothing but oversized, warm knits and denim on a regular basis when the weather starts to get cool, so its nice to see some other style options. That brown leather jacket is a beauty!
