THE IMPORTANT STUFF

First of all, thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments on my recent Period Drama post – it means the world that these kinds of posts are so well received by you guys. I get floods of messages whenever I write something surrounding female/mental health – messages that make it feel important for me to always continue. I’ve decided that the new blog design will feature it’s very own female health category so that you can all locate these posts more easily, and it will be a little reminder to myself to keep sharing my journey…

PERIOD DRAMA

So this post has arrived off the back of an Instagram story I posted last week whilst taking my monthly visit to Boots (bare with me). I vented my frustration at the popular sanitary product brands always being stocked at eye level, whilst the organic brands were hidden on the bottom shelf as though they were some sort of dirty secret. I’m fully aware that these big brands pay top dollar for their prime spot on the sacred sanitary shelf – but as someone who has struggled considerably more with female health issues because of these very products, it makes me sad. Actually scrap that, it makes me mad

A FEW STEPS IN A NEW DIRECTION

I thought it was a pretty good time to sit down and have a little catch up – you know, one of those posts where I just ramble a bit, and update you with what’s been happening around these parts. October was a crazy old month for me, I often find that this time of year is always full speed ahead, and this year is shaping up to be no different. The jewellery launch couldn’t have gone any better – we completely sold out the week it went live, so thank you again to everybody who supported us and sent kind messages. Don’t worry if you had your eye on a piece for Christmas, it’s now been fully restocked, and is available to get your hands on again…

LESS ALONE IN MANCHESTER

I get quite a lot of messages (on a weekly basis) from those of you that are lovely enough to follow along and engage with me. I noticed that a large proportion of these messages were showing similar trends. People who were new to an area, people who wanted tips on how to make friends, people that had been living in an area for ages but still felt lonely – people who were just struggling to make friends. It seems strange in a world brimming with all different kinds of people, but making friends is hard – particularly ones that you will actively keep in touch with and see regularly. It only gets harder as you get older and busier too – our priorities change, and we live in a time where a lot of what we do revolves around work and being endlessly unavailable…

COATS & SUNGLASSES WEATHER

I treasure those days when the sky is a crisp blue colour, and the sun is warm enough to take the edge off the ever decreasing temperature drop. I like to call this heavenly combination coats and sunglasses weather – British winter at it’s finest. Still warm enough to feel chic in your outfit, but cool enough to wear that new winter coat you’ve been waiting on. There’s something very comforting about wearing an oversized coat with a big pair of sunglasses – almost as though you’re putting on a disguise for the day, and can be whoever you want…

NIGHT & DAY

I often refer to my style as somewhere between night and day. It’s that contrast of looks (that usually fit into their own neat boxes) that keeps fashion interesting to me. Am I on the way to a bar? Am I going hiking? Who the hell knows. In theory, the idea of teaming such a delicate satin skirt with some tough looking winter boots seems like a mistake, but it’s often these experimental mistakes that end up being some of my favourite outfits…

THE BEST ONLINE VINTAGE DESTINATIONS

Those of you have followed me for a while will know that a large proportion of my wardrobe consists of vintage and second hand items. Thrifting for once loved gems has been a passion of mine for years, and one that hasn’t slowed down since I started my blog. I’m lucky enough to get sent a lot of ‘new in’ pieces from various brands, but it’s always the vintage items that really make my outfits feel personal to me. With the recent release of the amazing Stacey Dooley’s documentary, Fashions Dirty Secret – fast fashion consumption has been the hot topic on everyones lips. With this in mind, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to sit down with you all, and guide you through my favourite vintage/secondhand online shopping destinations…

GROWING UP WITH YOU

I recently read Chloe Plumstead’s post about her relationship, and it echoed so many of my own thoughts and feelings. Like queen Chloe (I mean, please go and read her blog if you don’t already because it’s a breath of real fresh air), I’ve also been in a relationship since I was eighteen. Sam and I met at freshers week whilst studying in Leeds – perhaps the worst possible time to bump into the love of your life, but looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way…

WHAT’S IN A POST

It’s been a little while since I’ve sat down and written about something other than clothes. I guess I’d started to feel a bit exhausted on the whole, and very uninspired in general. I usually feel this way around this time of year when everything is transitioning – I find it hard to dress myself successfully, let alone to curate my thoughts into something mildly interesting. I don’t believe that everything I post on the internet has to be some sort of groundbreaking piece of writing, but I much prefer the process of putting a blog post together when I feel like it has some sort of purpose behind it…

OUT OF SORTS

Anyone else find themselves starting to feel a bit strange around this time of year? I always forget just how much the change in season can affect me physically, and just how important it is to keep on top of any negative feelings. For instance, the end of summer means ever decreasing daylight, less time spent outdoors, and sometimes even less socialising too. It can feel like quite a tough adjustment for the soul, and this can have a knock on affect when it comes to feeling energised and productive…
