HONOURING OLD FAVOURITES

Two staples in my winter wardrobe have to be a good pair of checked trousers and a cable knit jumper that makes me feel like I’ve wandered off the set of Twin Peaks. What’s funny about both of these items is that they are endlessly evolving – just when you think you’ve found the perfect pieces that you’ll return to forever, you stumble across a new take on the humble cable knit jumper that stops you in your tracks and makes you question your old moth eaten vintage gem…

ADDING SPARKLE THIS SEASON

The festive season is well and truly upon us, and the pressure to have a different outfit for every event can be well and truly exhausting. Over the years, I’ve found that even the most simple of outfits can be made holiday appropriate with the right balance of accessories on your side. Whether it’s a interesting hair clip, a statement bag, or your favourite layered jewellery – for me, the personality of an outfit always lies within the details! With this in mind, I thought I’d talk you through some of my favourite ways to add a little something extra to my festive attire of choice…

UNDERSTATED FESTIVE LOOKS | KEY PIECES

I recently went to shoot in the Altrincham Everyman Cinema after seeing how beautiful their screening rooms were online. Most of the content I shoot for my blog throughout the year is street style based, so it’s really nice to have a bit more fun with the locations at this time of year. Plus, I’m in favour of a comfortable velvet armchair in exchange of a freezing bench in central Manchester any day of the week…

FESTIVE DRINKS

I thought I’d kick of the first of the festive looks with some recent work I did for Zalando – this blog post isn’t sponsored by the way, but I loved the images we shot for Instagram, and wanted to share them over on here too. The outfit features two of my favourite brands this year, so I thought it was fitting to go into a little more detail about them, whilst hopefully inspiring some festivity at the same time…

TACKY PHOTO BOOTH | HAIR CLIPS

This blog post has arrived off the back of a very prominent hair accessory addiction – I’ve always been a fan of scrunchies and hair scarfs, but since I cut my hair short, I’ve developed quite the hair clip collection. Not only are they fun to wear, they also give any outfit a slightly tacky/festive feel – making them the ideal stocking fillers. I’ve rounded up my favourite online hair clip destinations for you, along with all my top picks, and some silly photos (just because)…

BABY PINK MOHAIR & LEOPARD PRINT

A cosy knit and a midi skirt are always a fail safe for me at this time of year – especially when teamed with chunky ankle boots. I think one of my greatest investments this year has to be these Grenson boots – they are doing quite the rounds over on Instagram, and I can definitely see why. They make any outfit extra warming on those bitterly cold days, and they keep my feet toasty and dry during the all too often Manchester downpour. I’ve been wearing them with everything and anything, and they haven’t given me blisters once…

THE PERFECT WINTER COAT

It’s officially winter coat season around these parts, and much like last year, I’m really enjoying anything that feels like a giant dressing gown but creates some shape at the waist. Picking up that new winter coat is very much a nostalgic feeling for many of us – it reminds me of starting a new season at school, and being very aware that whatever coat I picked would have to be worn all winter long. These days, I’m lucky enough to have a few different options, but I still take my coat shopping very seriously. After all, there’s only so much space in our overstuffed hallway cupboard…

COATS & SUNGLASSES WEATHER

I treasure those days when the sky is a crisp blue colour, and the sun is warm enough to take the edge off the ever decreasing temperature drop. I like to call this heavenly combination coats and sunglasses weather – British winter at it’s finest. Still warm enough to feel chic in your outfit, but cool enough to wear that new winter coat you’ve been waiting on. There’s something very comforting about wearing an oversized coat with a big pair of sunglasses – almost as though you’re putting on a disguise for the day, and can be whoever you want…

NIGHT & DAY

I often refer to my style as somewhere between night and day. It’s that contrast of looks (that usually fit into their own neat boxes) that keeps fashion interesting to me. Am I on the way to a bar? Am I going hiking? Who the hell knows. In theory, the idea of teaming such a delicate satin skirt with some tough looking winter boots seems like a mistake, but it’s often these experimental mistakes that end up being some of my favourite outfits…

THE BEST ONLINE VINTAGE DESTINATIONS

Those of you have followed me for a while will know that a large proportion of my wardrobe consists of vintage and second hand items. Thrifting for once loved gems has been a passion of mine for years, and one that hasn’t slowed down since I started my blog. I’m lucky enough to get sent a lot of ‘new in’ pieces from various brands, but it’s always the vintage items that really make my outfits feel personal to me. With the recent release of the amazing Stacey Dooley’s documentary, Fashions Dirty Secret – fast fashion consumption has been the hot topic on everyones lips. With this in mind, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to sit down with you all, and guide you through my favourite vintage/secondhand online shopping destinations…
