CAN A LEOPARD EVER CHANGE THEIR SPOTS?

Leopard print is slowly making a bit of a come back recently, and it’s definitely one of those prints that has people strongly divided. It’s also one of those prints that can feel a bit tacky (in the best possible way), and has somehow adopted a persona all of it’s very own. Leopard print happens to be one of those prints that for some reason allows people to make assumptions about the person underneath – overly sexy, promiscuous, works in bar, loves rock n roll music, and probably has a pair of fish net tights tucked away in their handbag somewhere…

DESTINATION: WEDDING GUEST | ASOS

Wedding attire can often feel daunting – not just for the bride and groom, but for everyone who gets an invitation to their special day. Suddenly your wardrobe starts to crack under the pressure, and you convince yourself that you need a brand new outfit, with shoes and accessories to match. Everyone wants to feel put together whilst at a wedding, which can seem like a huge challenge when you live in vintage jeans five days out of the week…

STYLE NOTES FROM DIRTY DANCING

I’ve spoken before about how heavily my style is influenced by the films and tv series I fill my spare time with. There’s something about being sucked into a completely different world that makes me pine for what the characters experience, the surroundings they explore, and the clothes they wear along the way…

PACKING LIST: A SUMMER CITY BREAK

I get quite a lot of questions about what I pack when I go away, and I don’t think it’s ever something I’ve sat down to discuss on here. I’m not the most organised packer in the world, but I do try and always start the day before, and I try to make a little list to guide me in the right direction. I find packing for a beach holiday a total breeze – just lots of swimwear, cami tops, and high waist shorts. A few little wrap dresses thrown in there and you really can’t go too wrong. However, packing for a city break is a whole new ball game, and one that I have to offer a little more thought…

BEACHWEAR FOR DAYWEAR

I’m heading to sunny Barcelona next week, so my mind has been focused on wrapping up a few deadlines before I leave, and holiday outfits. There hasn’t been time for much in-between, but it’s been nice to be busy and focused on being productive. It doesn’t always happen when you work for yourself, although there always seems to be an endless pile of things to do. I’m heading to Barcelona for Primavera Sound festival, and staying a few days either side to explore the city…

WHEN IN DOUBT, DOUBLE POLKA DOTS

I keep my love for polka dots no secret – I have a wardrobe full of them, and I never seem to get bored of dressing myself in spots. They seem to be having a real buzz at the moment, with no sign of disappearing anytime soon. I mean, when will polka dots ever not be a good ideaIf you don’t like polka dots, maybe don’t answer that last part. Anyway, I’ve seen a lot of polka dot clashing around recently, and it’s inspired me to start mixing pieces together, and making the trend work from my own wardrobe…

EMBRACING YELLOW

Yellow seems to be having a real moment, and I’m all for it. The longer these colour trends seem to hang around, the more they encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new. I picked up this yellow vintage blouse last year, and almost threw it away in the midst of a big spring clear out. That’s the thing with colourful pieces – I always manage to convince myself that they don’t have the same longevity as the monochrome and neutral ones hanging alongside them…

A GREEN BLAZER

The arrival of summer always makes me want to cut my hair off – anyone out there with thick, generally unruly hair will feel my pain. Wearing it down just isn’t an option when it reaches a mere twenty degrees or more. Think Monica abroad. It’s both a blessing and a curse, and I guess you always want what you don’t have. Anyway, I used to have a super short bob when I was at university, and I’ve been toying around with the idea of cutting it back in. I’ve got the hair itch – not the bad kind. Just the kind that’s niggling for a transformation. I think it was Coco Chanel who said ‘A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life’…

PRINCESS DIANA | POLKA DOTS

Princess Diana is way up there with my style icons for so many reasons – one of them being that she donned some pretty impressive polka dots ensembles. I always think of her whenever I wear an Eighties inspired blouse or blazer, and especially when I wear monochrome polka dots with high waist denim. I was trying to pin point what it was that I admired so much about her the other evening – I came to the conclusion that it has something to do with her ability to switch between Princess Diana and the off-duty Diana that lived in denim and wellington boots…

PEACHY KEEN

As someone who grew up with a general aversion to the colour pink, it seems to be slowly working it’s way into my life as of late. I’m not about to start wearing fuchsia pink anytime soon (it’s just not my colour), but I’m here for all the peachy, nude, and blush tones that have been making a come back. We are living in an age of millennial pink admiration, and I guess if you see enough of it around, you start to become a little curious about what all the fuss is about…
