SUNRISE | SEZANE IN PARIS

Do you ever put on an item of clothing and instantly feel better? Whether it’s that jumper that’s been passed down through your family that adds a certain comfort, or that outrageously bright t-shirt that radiates happiness wherever you go. I definitely think certain items of clothing naturally hold different sentiments – hence the reason I love vintage clothing so much. I like to imagine a narrative in my head that brings the clothing to life and adds personality to my outfits…

THOMAS SABO | SUMMER SKIN

Jewellery is such a personal thing for all of us – some can’t leave for the day without their layers of rings and necklaces, others just have that one special item they never remove, they sleep in it/shower in it, and it ends up becoming a part of them. I’ve always thought that you can tell a lot about a person by the jewellery they wear, each piece has a story to tell, a little sentiment behind it that can often be a magical conversation starter…

REALISATION PAR

It’s a nice feeling to set yourself little goals and accomplish them – no matter how small they are or how long it takes. I have been wearing this blouse none stop since it arrived in my post box, and it’s everything I could have hoped for and more. If you’ve followed me for a while, then you’ll know I have a thing for blouses – they just make me feel good. Combined with polka dots and made by a dream brand I’ve been lusting after for ages, I can’t see myself loving an outfit more than this one for a while! These photos were shot at around 7am in Paris before the city woke up – It was so peaceful to wander the little side streets, and I don’t think we could have wished for a better location for this dream blouse…

THE NEW FLORAL DRESS

To quote The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking” *insert eye roll emoji* – Meryl was right, and I have avoided most floral print items since my late teenage years. Stripes and polka dots always stuck, but florals seemed to be much more difficult to get right. Fast forward a few years and I’m wearing a floral midi dress and I’m absolutely in love with it…

PICNIC IN THE PARK

There’s just something about gingham that makes me want to skip through a field somewhere, go and read under a tree, or attend a fancy picnic of some kind. I mean, I’m not asking for much – I just feel that a great gingham outfit deserves all of the pre mentioned royalties. I am also of the opinion that gingham should always go hand in hand with a great little basket bag (see Jane Birkin in La Piscine for ultimate ‘how to wear gingham’ reference). Gingham has exploded all over the high street recently, so it’s easier than ever to find some unique pieces to update your gingham game…

LA REDOUTE LOOKBOOK | CITY STYLE

I recently had the opportunity to work with La Redoute, and instantly knew that it would be a project I’d love working on. A French founded brand that makes French style accessible and affordable – what’s not to love? Everything from fulfilling your French-girl wardrobe needs, to the perfect homeware pieces you’ve been lusting after – La Redoute really has everything I want all in one place. I thought I’d style two weather appropriate looks based around unpredictable city life…

HIGH STREET SS17 | TOP PICKS

After my recent ‘brands to inspire’ post, I got lots of messages asking about other brands that I admire, particularly on the high street. As many of you will know by now, I love my vintage clothing and my outfits are usually a mix of high street, vintage, and the odd higher end piece. I don’t like spending a crazy amount on my outfits, but I do like to invest in those luxury items now and then, usually the pieces that I know I’ll wear and love forever. With that in mind, I thought I’d give you a little insight into the high street brands I’m loving at the moment, and the pieces that have been catching my eye…

THE STATEMENT MIDI

Throughout my early teenage years, I used to avoid midi skirts at all costs. I thought they were frumpy and unflattering, and that there was no possible way I could feel good in one. However, in recent years you can’t keep me away from a great midi skirt – I loved the pleated trend during Winter and wore my black pleated one endlessly with jumpers tucked in and pointed boots. Now that SS17 trends are well and truly underway, I thought it was time to update my little collection with a slightly more vibrant version….

ONE STEP AHEAD

For me, this time of year can be a bit tricky in terms of ‘getting it right’. It’s often jumper weather when you leave for the morning coffee run, but by 2pm you find yourself wishing you’d worn a t-shirt – and of course you left your sunglasses on the bedside table. Absolute typical British problems, and often one that makes getting dressed each morning so god damn confusing. As a result, I’m found sticking my arm out the window to try and get a feel of what I should wear based of temperature (please tell me I’m not the only weirdo that does that), or obsessively checking the weather app in hope that, just once, it might tell the truth…

SMART FOR SPRING

The new season often brings a lot of new occasions along with it – weddings, christenings, or just any old excuse to throw a get together in the sunshine! I thought I’d do something I don’t do all that often, and show you how I’d dress for a slightly ‘smarter’ event – can you tell I’m rinsing the Spring themed blog posts yet? I’m not great at dressing up – if you’ve been following my outfits for a while, then you know I’m most at home in some high waist jeans, and I’ll never invest in a pair of shoes if they aren’t comfortable (grandma over here). I’m the person who freaks out if they get a wedding invitation (*throws everything out of wardrobe and proceeds to have a meltdown buried amongst casual attire*), however as I’m well on my way to my mid twenties, I feel like this will be more of a regular occurrence, and that one should always be prepared/have a few tricks up their sleeve just in case. I want to explore these kinds of outfits a little more this year, and figure out what works best for me…
