WORDS FOR WOMEN | FEMALE HEALTH

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and given you guys a health update – I know it’s not something that I have to do, but since I’ve shared so much already, it only seems right to keep you updated on my progress. I guess there’s still part of me that holds resentment towards my own body, that feels embarrassed and ashamed – awkward and unsexy. These are all important reasons to keep the conversation open surrounding female health. If I can make just one person feel less isolated and hopeless then it’s worth it. As many of you have messaged me saying, there just isn’t enough candid information out there when it comes to our vaginas – we often quietly whisper to friends,  we google symptoms incognito, we bend awkwardly to try and look in the mirror, and often even then, we still don’t know what the hell we are looking at…

AUGUST PLAYLIST

It’s that time of month where I post the music I’ve been listening to over the last few weeks, along with a few self portraits from this month (that admittedly, have nothing to do with said playlist). It’s been a funny old month of ups and downs (and everything in between), so those moments when I’ve been able to switch off and listen to music have been a blessing. I’ve also been getting back into reading on a more regular basis again (the key is to just pick up another book right after you’ve finished your current one), so let me know if you’d like a reading list style post sometime soon…

BEING IN TUNE

This is probably going to be one of those posts where I ramble on without much direction, but it’s something I’ve been dwelling on recently. The art of being in tune with your mind and body – listening to what your body needs, and actually taking the time to provide it for yourself. It’s hard in an era where we all get swept up in being busy and unavailable, but looking after number one is more important than any of us ever realise…

ISCHIA | ISLAND LIFE

We just got back from a week well spent in beautiful Ischia – it was a break spent beach hopping, reading, and eating all the pasta and pizza in sight. I hadn’t had a proper holiday in a long while (not one where I fully switch off anyway) so it was nice to be somewhere that encouraged me to chill out. We chose Ischia because it seemed a little less raved about, and I liked the idea of discovering somewhere that felt like the underdog, or that just wasn’t as popular on my Instagram feed. We had also read that parts of The Talented Mr Ripley were filmed there, which has to be one of my favourite films in terms of how aesthetically pleasing it is. If you haven’t watched it before, give it a watch, and I can guarantee you’ll be subconsciously planning your next trip to Italy…

DENIM & GOLDEN HOUR

The magic of Golden Hour never ceases to amaze me – those moments just before the sun starts to go down that truly make everything feel better (and look better too). I’ve switched up my shooting routine lately and have been creating blog content during the early evening time. Partly because it’s just been so hot, but mostly because I love the feeling it creates – it’s been a joy to be able to shoot when less people are around, and has really given me a new appreciation for photography…

MINIMAL SUMMER UNIFORM | COS

If you’re anything like me, then summer dressing can leave you feeling a bit frustrated – especially when you live in a city centre. It’s hard to find that middle of the road outfit that keeps you cool whilst looking effortless and chic at the same time. In the midst of a heatwave, I remind myself of those classic wardrobe essentials that never let me down. My style relies a lot on layering, so it’s handy to have pieces that are both minimal and interchangeable…

CREATING FOR THE INTERNET | INSTAGRAM

This is a topic I’ve wanted to discuss for some time now – I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately for numerous reasons, and I just wanted to explore my thoughts on it a little more. That’s basically what blogging is to me, some sort of writing therapy that always leaves me feeling lighter than before. The internet, to me, has always been a place to share and consume with likeminded people, if someone told me five years ago that I’d be doing the job I do now, I would have probably laughed in their face…

SUMMER STYLE IN FILM | ATONEMENT

Fashion in film is something I think about a lot – I’m a huge cinema fan, and I’ve always loved immersing myself in the storylines of different characters that interest me. You can guarantee that if I’m watching a film for the first time, the first thing I’ll comment on will be what someone’s wearing. Particularly when it comes to period dramas (or pretty much any Wes Anderson film), I think I’m most attracted to clothing that feels as though it belongs to another time entirely. Pieces that would pretty much be deemed fancy dress attire if I was to walk down the street dressed in head to toe in them…

CHECKERED NIGHT DRESS

I’ve discovered a new combination that I’m a little bit in love with recently – slip dresses worn with shirts tied up to create a waist. It’s the best way to make the most of that tent shaped slip at the back of your wardrobe (that one that you’ve been meaning to buy a belt for). They are both pieces that a lot of us have hanging in our wardrobes, and it’s been the perfect combination for beating the heat on those hot and humid days that leave us questioning whether or not we can wear swimwear to work…
