DENIM FOR DATE NIGHT: A VIDEO

Two ‘date night’ looks for spring, both with vintage denim in mind. If you’re anything like me and you never have enough time to get ready/basically live in high waisted jeans, then you might like this one. Whether it’s a date with someone else, or just taking yourself out for pancakes…

THE KNITTED TANK TOP

A knitted tank top probably sounds like something your old history teacher wore, but bare with me here. This little navy tank was gifted to me when I first started blogging, it was one of the first clothing pieces that I was kindly sent, and I’ve kept it in my collection ever since. Despite it being of the knitted variety, it’s something I only dig out during the warmer months. I’ve worn in plenty of times with high waist jeans and a utility jacket thrown over the top for a really easy daytime look. It’s perfect if you feel like showing a little more skin, whilst keeping you snug at the same time…

THE INSTAGRAM EFFECT

Truth is, people rarely look as polished as they do on Instagram, photos are usually captured when we are feeling the best version of ourselves. When our make up is done, when we are having a good hair day, when we feel a little less bloated than the week before. Instagram is basically like constantly looking at someones best side, their best life, all shot in their best lightIt has the power to make people look like they have all their shit together before the age of twenty five, it can make couples appear happier than they actually are, and it can generally just make life look a little sweeter than it probably is behind the scenes…

SIZE UP, SUIT UP…

I recently stumbled across this check bag in a vintage shop and it was love at first sight – I’m obsessed with checked print accessories at the moment, so finding this gem for under thirty pounds was a very welcome surprise. Vintage shopping is one of my most favourite past times – I just love treasure hunting, and then walking away with something that not everyone is likely to have. It really makes my outfits feel more personal to me, and I can spend hours looking if uninterrupted…

CHARACTER DRESSING

Whenever people ask me about where I get my inspiration from, I always find myself referring to various films or TV series. Characters have inspired me since I was very little – whether it was influencing the way I was acting, certain words I’d become obsessed with, or eventually, the way I decided to dress myself each morning…

MAKING A NEW SPACE HOME

It’s been a none stop couple of weeks, and any kind of a routine has been put to the back burner. We have slowly been settling into the new place, and getting a feel for the new area. It’s still an area that we very much know and love, but everything feels slightly askew when your daily surroundings change. I have to say, being internet free for a few days has been kind of wonderful – that along with the distraction of unpacking have meant that I’ve spent way less time staring at my laptop and scrolling through various social media apps…

A MOVING VLOG

We moved last Friday so I thought I’d vlog the day to look back on – it ended up being more of a music montage but I hope you like it anyway! Can’t wait to get stuck into some new videos when we are settled…

MOVING DAY

Today is moving day, and I’m currently surrounded by cardboard boxes and dirty laundry as I write this – we have lived in this little flat for just over three years now, so leaving is definitely a bittersweet affair. I can’t wait to live in a different area of Manchester and make a new space feel like home, but we have so many memories here that it almost feels like we are leaving something behind. I feel this way about all the places I have ever lived – I’m an incredibly sentimental soul, and it only takes picking up an old paint splattered photograph to set me off…

THE UTILITY JACKET

I feel like I owe quite a lot to the humble utility shirt/jacket, or even the newly termed, shacket (ew) – I’ve owned numerous utility style jackets over years, and it’s a style that I never seem to tire of. It’s one of those pieces that manages to hold onto it’s vintage roots, whilst forever appearing modern at the same time. It also works endlessly well when paired with denim – one of those low maintenance style savers that I can throw on over anything, and be safe in the knowledge that it just looks goodIt’s comforting to have pieces like that to rely on when your personal style is experiencing a minor funk, they start to feel like home, and offer you a gentle reminder that sometimes the best kind of outfit is just one that makes you feel your most comfortable…

THE PROBLEM WITH OVERSHARING

Oversharing has always seemed like a bit of a problematic term to me – particularly as someone who is quite an honest person, and tends to wear their heart on their sleeve. What does oversharing really mean anyway? It seems like one of those things that everyone will feel slightly different about – everyone sits somewhere slightly different on the oversharing scale. Oversharing is defined as: revealing an inappropriate amount of detail about one’s personal life. However, I think there’s a fine line between oversharing, and just being an authentic person to those around you…
