THE PERFECT BLACK OVERALLS & VISITING L’APPARTEMENT SÉZANE

Sézane are one of those brands that remain close to my heart – they were one of the first to recognise my photography and work as a blogger, and have remained both generous and supportive ever since. They keep in touch throughout the year, and let me pick out pieces each time a new collection drops, I then feature them organically – basically just as and when I wear them. They are one of those brands that aren’t motivated by financial gain, and instead, have empowering women at the forefront of everything they create. I guess it’s safe to say I’m a huge fan of they way they conduct their online empire, and I was super excited to finally visit their Paris based store…

PRACTICAL AND PERSONAL

I hate that feeling of leaving the house, and not fully feeling like the best version of yourself – it tends to happen a lot around this time of year, and we all seem to get a bit complacent in our winter layers. We tend to lean towards pieces that are practical, and leave what we wish we could wear hanging in the wardrobe back home. January and February can be tricky months in terms of styling – it’s often cold or raining in Manchester, and my personal style awaits that much needed Spring reboot that lays ahead. That promise of a new season refresh, and to hopefully rediscover clothing that doesn’t make me resemble a snowman…

WHITE SHOES IN WINTER

After a few wonderful and relatively stress free days in Paris, it feels good to be home and getting my teeth sunk into some new blog posts. We managed to shoot quite a few outfits during our stay, so you can expect lots of Paris themed content coming your way over the next couple of weeks! It was quite a chilled trip in all honesty – half of it was spent picture taking, and the other half exploring some of the places on my wish list. Paris is definitely one of those places that gets better with each visit – especially once you’ve ticked off all the usual tourist spots. It’s only then that you can really wander around without the inevitable tourist guilt that presents itself when visiting a new city…

A HEALTHY DOSE OF THE INTERNET

It’s safe to say that over the Christmas period, I was pretty exhausted with the online world – I was ready for a break, and boy did it help to completely reset my mind. It’s not healthy to live all of our time online, playing the numbers game, and getting neck deep in comparison. We all need real human interaction, and to feel less pressure to document every little thing that we do and see – it’s not the way for us to thrive. Admittedly, I owe a lot to my little corner of the internet – it’s helped me develop my own business, and meet some of the most wonderful people whilst doing so. However, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with creating a safe online space for yourself – one that doesn’t involve a constant stream of triggers and unsettling behaviour…

BROWN GINGHAM BLAZER

January is a time when I like to try and get the creativity flowing for the year ahead – it’s not always easy to get back into the swing of things, especially when you’re feeling sleepy and bloated after the old December snooze. I had quite the wardrobe clear out before Christmas, so I’m definitely ready to introduce some new pieces into my life, and generally just refresh what I wear on a day to day basis. With this in mind, I’ve been doing my fair share of vintage shopping over the last couple of weeks…

SOME THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW

I though I’d put together a random list of facts about myself so that maybe you can all get to know me a little better. I always like reading these kind of posts, it’s interesting to me to hear about what people like and dislike – what makes them tick. I guess I’m just nosy, but it’s nice to delve into peoples lives a little deeper, and learn more about things that stand out to them, and ultimately, shape the person that they are…

WINTER BEAUTY CABINET

It’s been a little while since I’ve done anything beauty related – so I thought the start of a brand new year might be the perfect excuse! My skincare routine doesn’t tend to change that much – I pretty much stick to around ten different products in alteration with each other, depending on what my skin is crying out for each week. For those of you that follow my Instagram stories/beauty blog posts, you’ll know that I own way more than ten products, but most of them are just variations of pretty much the same thing…

AT HOME

We just got the news that our new flat is secured, and it got me thinking about how much of a homebody I am. I love nothing more than spending hours organising and redesigning spaces – which I guess is just as well considering I have a mountain of clothing to constantly keep on top of. We have lived in our current flat together for around three years now, it’s very much a humble one bedroom abode with nothing fancy to shout about. It’s on a really busy street in Manchester, and right across the road from a rowdy student club. It’s safe to say we have had plenty of adventures whilst living here, but both of us are more than ready to make a new place home…

STYLING STATEMENT BOOTS

Typically, I’d say that a pair of reddy/brown snakeskin boots wouldn’t be first choice of footwear, but I spied these over on Instagram recently, and instantly feel hook, line, and sinker! They are by a brand that I constantly find myself checking up on – MiistaMiista are a Spanish independent brand that create shoes like nothing I have seen before – a serious breath of fresh air when it comes to finding the perfect investment boots. I wanted something that felt a little more exciting, a pair of boots that jazzed up some denim jeans like nothing else…

BACK IN TIME

I recently had the pleasure of shooting at The Principal hotel in Manchester, and left feeling completely smitten with the whole place. I have always had a strong admiration for all things old – whether it’s a historical building, or a dusty vintage shop, there’s just something satisfying about being surrounded by old things. It’s the same sort of romantic feeling that I might get when I put on a pair of vintage boots, or faux fur jacket that’s got someone else’s name written in the label – it’s that little connection to times gone by that encourages me to imagine I’m playing out some sort of character for the day…
