Alice Catherine Alice Catherine

It’s safe to say that wherever there’s a chunky/cable knit jumper – you’re likely to find me either pining for it, or frantically adding it to my shopping basket. As I’ve gotten older, I find myself considering my purchases a lot more, and I often wait a few weeks before investing a new item. I like to investigate what it will match with in my wardrobe rather than impulse buying pieces that I probably already own five variations of. I guess you could say I’m trying to be a little more mindful of how I’m spending my money on the whole – but there are some exceptions to my new found self control. When it comes to knitwear, none of the afore mentioned things seem to come into consideration – I am a crazy knitwear fanatic and will probably end up in a house padded to the brim with fisherman knits and turtlenecks…

Okay so, slightly exaggeration on my behalf, but it’s really not far from the truth under any stretch of the imagination. I truly am a knitwear enthusiast, and it seems that this time of year puts me under some sort of evil spell – buy all the knitwear. Knitwear confessions aside – this year I feel that I’ve had a little more self control than usual. Admittedly, it’s only October so my new ‘mindful shopping’ practices still have potential to go drastically downhill…

One of the most recent additions to my ever-growing jumper family is this beauty by Moon River – a brand that I have mentioned a few times on here and continue to fall more and more in love with. They make some really interesting pieces and I noticed they now stock over on ASOS too – definitely one to watch/check out if you happen to like the pieces I’ve featured so far. This jumper is so well made and really doesn’t feel like a far stretch from my beloved fluffy dressing gown – it’s just what you need on those days when putting human clothes on seems like to much to bare. Y’know, those days when you want to do nothing but hibernate in your pyjamas and watch Friends reruns. These days are regular occurrences for me once the days start to feel shorter and the weather can’t seem to make it’s mind up.

I’ve just been pairing it with my trusty Whistles jeans that haven’t been far from my legs since I bought them – I should probably prise myself away from them and give them a break but they truly are my dream jeans. That is, other than my vintage Levi collection which I forever find myself returning to, and will always be the loving foundation of my personal style. These Whistles ones just have an amazing stretch to them that makes them endlessly comfortable – what I’m basically trying to tell you is that this outfit feels like pyjamas, and that can only ever be a positive thing in my eyes. Throw on some black accessories for good measure and it’s a fail-safe combination that will get you through the gloomiest of days. Cat eye sunglasses, pointed boots, and a gold chain bag are my go-to pieces for tricking people into thinking I made some kind of effort. On the inside, I’m most likely in need of an extra three hours sleep and fretting over that fast approaching deadline. I think that’s all fashion really is to me – creating an illusion each day – sometimes to reflect my exact mood, and other times to completely contradict it in the hope that it doesn’t completely give me away…

Pfttt there is no need to be mindful for knitwear. This is Manchester; we will get our wear out of them 😉
