August and September are usually a time of year that leave me feeling in a bit of a style rut, and generally prompt a bit of a shopping spree for some new season pieces. I generally start by picking up a few pieces of knitwear, and start making a mental wish list of the items my wardrobe is lacking. I’m sure I’m not alone in getting the ‘new winter coat’ excitement either – it’s a ritual that many of us have experienced since we were little, and finding the right one can take some serious shopping around…

One of my first and quite exciting autumn/winter purchases comes in the form of this striped jumper by Acne Studios – they are a brand I lust over constantly, and I definitely feel that they can be trusted when it comes to investment basics. Whether it’s their famous leather jackets, scarfs, or pointed boots. I knew that I wanted to invest in some good knitwear this year – ones that won’t fall apart after a few washes and will keep me toasty warm on those frosty mornings. I love the colour combination of this jumper – it had popped up a few times and I’d done the old ‘screen shot it for later reference thing’ before finally taking the plunge. I couldn’t be more pleased with it and definitely feel that it’s going to be one of those jumpers I’ll wear over and over again until it gets holes in it.

I paired it with my trusty black Levi jeans and some black pointed boots to balance out the oversized look of the jumper – I still love these Whistles boots as much as the day I bought them, and they have lasted so well! I’d definitely recommend them if you’re starting to think about investing in a pair – I’m hoping they bring out the same ones again this year if not something very similar. To tie the look together, I grabbed my Staud bag and a pair of cat eye sunglasses, basically the ultimate accessories for dressing up a laid back daytime look like jeans and a jumper. They instantly make the outfit appear more thought out, and these sunglasses have been doing a great job at hiding how tired I am underneath. There’s something about the quite glamorous cat eye sunglasses and the Kurt Cobain esque jumper that I just love when thrown together – it’s that juxtaposition of aesthetics that makes outfits so much more interesting to me. Not quite what you’d expect, but somehow better…
